Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ The true event! 1 What is the Inevitable Reality? 2 Ah, what will convey unto thee what the reality is! 3 Thamud and 'Aad denied the Striking Calamity. 4 As for Thamood, they were destroyed by the Screamer; 5 as for Aad, they were destroyed by a howling, violent wind 6 which He let loose upon them for seven nights and eight days in succession; so that (if you had been there) you might have seen people lying prostrate, as though they were uprooted trunks of hollowed palm trees. 7 Now dost thou see any remnant of them? 8 The Pharaoh, those who lived before him and the people of the Subverted Cities all persisted in doing evil. 9 When they disobeyed the apostle of their Lord He seized them with an overwhelming punishment. 10 Surely We bore you up in the ship when the water rose high, 11 making it a Reminder for you, for all attentive ears to retain. 12 So when the Trumpet is blown with a single blast 13 the earth and mountains will be raised up high and crushed all together. 14 on that Day shall that indubitable event come to pass; 15 The heaven will be split; because on that Day it will be frail. 16 and the angels [will appear] at its ends, and above them, eight will bear aloft on that Day the throne of thy Sustainer's almightiness… 17 That Day shall ye be brought to Judgment: not an act of yours that ye hide will be hidden. 18 Those who will receive the books of the records of their deeds in their right hands will say, "Come and read my record. 19 Surely, I knew that I should meet my reckoning," 20 And so he will find himself in a happy state of life, 21 In a Garden on high, 22 its fruits are near. 23 Eat and drink with benefit for that which ye sent on beforehand in days past. 24 And he that will be given his Record in his left hand, will say: "Ah! Would that my Record had not been given to me! 25 and neither known this my account! 26 "I wish, would that it had been my end (death)! 27 My wealth has not availed me. 28 "My power and arguments (to defend myself) have gone from me!" 29 The angels will be told, "Seize and chain them, 30 "And burn ye him in the Blazing Fire. 31 And then insert him in a chain whereof the length is seventy cubits. 32 for, behold, he did not believe in God, the Tremendous, 33 nor were they concerned with feeding the destitute. 34 Wherefore for him here this Day there is no friend. 35 Nor food other than suppuration (filth) 36 that none but sinners eat' 37
