۞ And when the son of Maryam is held up, an example, behold! thy people thereat cry out. 57 and say: "Which is better - our deities or he?" [But] it is only in the spirit of dispute that they put this comparison before thee: yea, they are contentious folk! 58 Jesus was not but a servant upon whom We bestowed favor, and We made him an example for the Children of Israel. 59 Had it been Our Will We would have made angels among you as successors in the earth. 60 AND, BEHOLD, this [divine writ] is indeed a means to know [that] the Last Hour [is bound to come]; hence, have no doubt whatever about it, but follow Me: this [alone] is a straight way. 61 And let not Satan turn you aside. Lo! he is an open enemy for you. 62 And when Eisa came to them with clear signs, he said, “I have come to you with wisdom, and to explain to you some of the matters regarding which you dispute; therefore fear Allah, and obey me.” 63 Lo! Allah, He is my Lord and your Lord. So worship Him. This is a right path. 64 But the sects from among themselves differed. So woe to those who do wrong (by ascribing things to 'Iesa (Jesus) that are not true) from the torment of a painful Day (i.e. the Day of Resurrection)! 65 Are they waiting (for any thing) but the Hour (of Doom) which would descend upon them suddenly, and catch them unawares? 66 On that Day even bosom friends shall become enemies to one another, all except the God-fearing. 67
