Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ No! I swear by the Day of Resurrection, 1 Nay! I swear by the self-accusing soul. 2 Deemest man that We shall not assemble his bones? 3 Yes. [We are] Able [even] to proportion his fingertips. 4 Aye! man desireth that he may sin before him. 5 asking [derisively,] "When is that Resurrection Day to be?" 6 Yet when the eyes are dazzled, 7 and the moon is eclipsed, 8 And the sun and moon will be joined together (by going one into the other or folded up or deprived of their light, etc.) 9 That day man will say: "Where can I find escape?" 10 No! There is no refuge. 11 Before thy Lord (alone), that Day will be the place of rest. 12 On that day, people will be informed of all that they had done and all that they were supposed to do. 13 In fact, people are well-aware of their own soul 14 Even if he presents his excuses. 15 Do not forestall (the revelation before its completion) by acting in haste. 16 Lo! upon Us (resteth) the putting together thereof and the reading thereof. 17 So when We have read it, you should thereupon follow what is read. 18 It's explanation is upon Us. 19 Nay! But you love the present life, 20 and neglect the life to come. 21 [Some] faces, that Day, will be radiant, 22 and will be looking towards their Lord; 23 And some faces, that Day, will be sad and dismal, 24 believing that a crushing calamity is about to strike them. 25 Some people, certainly, do not believe in it, but when a person's soul reaches up to his throat 26 And it is said, "Who will cure [him]?" 27 And he (the dying person) will conclude that it was (the time) of departing (death); 28 And one shin will curl up with the other shin. 29 On that Day you will be driven to your Lord. 30
