The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ What do they quarrel about? 1 About the awesome tiding [of resurrection,] 2 on which they [so utterly] disagree. 3 Surely yes, they will soon come to know! 4 Yes, indeed, before long they will learn all about it. 5 Did We not make the earth a spreading, 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs. 8 And made your sleep a rest. 9 and the night as a cover, 10 And made the day for livelihood 11 We have built above you seven mighty heavens, 12 and placed therein a hot, shining lamp, 13 And then sent down hard rain from the water bearing clouds. 14 That We may bring forth thereby corn and herbs, 15 And gardens of luxurious growth? 16 Indeed, the Day of Judgement is an appointed time - 17 the Day when the Trumpet shall be blown, and you will come forth in multitudes; 18 And the heavens shall be opened as if there were doors, 19 and when the mountains are made to vanish as if they had been a mirage. 20 Certainly Hell lies in wait, 21 for the insolent a resort, 22 In it shall they remain for a long time. 23 They shall not taste therein cool nor drink 24 save boiling water and wash of the wounds; 25 An exact recompense (according to their evil crimes). 26 Surely they feared not the account, 27 and they cried loud lies to Our signs; 28 And all things have We preserved on record. 29 "So taste [the penalty], and never will We increase you except in torment." 30
