The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 (It is) of the awful tidings, 2 About which they differ? 3 Indeed, they shall know! 4 And once again: Nay, but in time they will come to understand! 5 Have We not made the earth as a wide expanse, 6 And the high hills bulwarks? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And made your sleep [a means for] rest 9 and We made the night a mantle, 10 And made the day for livelihood 11 We raised over you several secure (skies), 12 And placed a lamp therein brightly burning. 13 And sent down, from the rain clouds, pouring water 14 so that We might bring forth thereby grain, and herbs, 15 and gardens dense with follage. 16 Surely a time is fixed for the Day of Judgement. 17 the Day that the Horn is blown, and you shall come in crowds 18 And the heavens shall be opened as if there were doors, 19 And the mountains shall be moved off so that they shall remain a mere semblance. 20 Surely the Hell is an ambush, 21 a goal for all who are wont to transgress the bounds of what is right! 22 Living therein for ages. 23 Finding neither sleep nor any thing to drink 24 except boiling water and pus 25 An appropriate recompense. 26 Indeed they had no fear of the account. 27 And rejected Our signs as lies. 28 And We have recorded everything in a book, 29 "So taste ye (the fruits of your deeds); for no increase shall We grant you, except in Punishment." 30
