He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and then turned away 1 Because there came unto him a blind man. 2 But what would make you perceive, [O Muhammad], that perhaps he might be purified 3 Or take heed and so the reminder might avail him? 4 For him who does not care, 5 to a rich man, 6 What does it matter to you if he will not become pure (from disbelief, you are only a Messenger, your duty is to convey the Message of Allah). 7 And as for him who cometh unto thee running, 8 And whereas he fears, 9 him didst thou disregard! 10 No indeed, this is a Reminder; 11 and whoso wills, shall remember it 12 On honourable pages. 13 Exalted, pure. 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Who are noble, virtuous. 16 Perish Man! How unthankful he is! 17 [Does man ever consider] out of what substance [God] creates him? 18 From a sperm-drop: He hath created him, and then mouldeth him in due proportions; 19 then eased his path for him, 20 Then He caused him to die and made him to be buried. 21 then, when He wills, He raises him. 22 Yet man declines to do His bidding. 23 Let man, then, consider [the sources of] his food: 24 [how it is] that We pour down water, pouring it down abundantly; 25 and cleaved the earth, cleaving it asunder; 26 Thereby produced grain in it. 27 And grapes and herbage 28 and olive trees and date palms 29 and burgeoning enclosed gardens 30 fruits, and grass. 31 In order to benefit you and your cattle. 32 When the trumpet sounds, 33 on that Day a man shall flee from his own brother, 34 and from his mother and father, 35 his wife and his children. 36 on that Day every man among them will have enough concern of his own -- 37 Some faces on that Day shall be beaming with happiness, 38 laughing, rejoicing at glad tidings. 39 And some faces will on that Day with dust be covered, 40 enveloped by darkness. 41 These are they who are unbelievers, the wicked. 42
God the Almighty always says the truth.
