He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 when the blind came to him. 2 And what could let you know? Perhaps he (comes to hear you) to be purified. 3 Or be reminded and the remembrance would benefit him? 4 As for him who was indifferent, 5 Unto him thou payest regard. 6 though you are not to be blamed if he would not purify himself -- 7 And to him who came to you eagerly 8 And he fears, 9 Him thou neglectest! 10 Nay, (do not do like this), indeed it (these Verses of this Quran) are an admonition, 11 so let those who want to follow its guidance do so. 12 On honourable pages. 13 Exalted and holy, 14 Written by the hands of emissaries. 15 noble and virtuous scribes. 16 Accursed is man. How ungrateful is he! 17 From what did He create him? 18 Of a sperm-drop He created him, and determined him, 19 Then (as for) the way-- He has made it easy (for him) 20 then makes him to die, and buries him, 21 and then, if it be His will, He shall raise him again to life, 22 Nay, but [man] has never yet fulfilled what He has enjoined upon him! 23 Then let man look to his food, 24 For that We pour forth water in abundance, 25 Then We cracked the earth open under pressure (of germination) 26 And produce therein corn, 27 And grapes and vegetables 28 and the olive, and the palm, 29 And enclosed gardens luxuriant. 30 And fruits and grass, 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 Then, when there comes As-Sakhkhah (the Day of Resurrection's second blowing of Trumpet), 33 On the Day a man will flee from his brother 34 And his mother and his father 35 And his wife and his children, 36 Every man of them shall on that day have an affair which will occupy him. 37 Some faces will shine, 38 laughing, and rejoicing, 39 some faces on that day shall be dusty 40 Veiled in darkness, 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked. 42
