۞ Gather together the evildoers, their wives, and that they were worshipping, 22 besides God, and lead them to the path of the Fire; 23 and detain them there; they will be called to account. 24 They will be asked, "Why do you not help each other?" 25 Nay, but this day they make full submission. 26 and approach each other with questions, 27 (The followers will say to their leaders): “You used to come to us from the right hand.” 28 They will say: nay! ye yourselves were not believers. 29 We had no authority over you, but you were an insolent nation. 30 So on us hath been justified the sentence of our Lord: verily we are to taste. 31 For we had led you astray. In fact we ourselves were astray." 32 Therefore, on that Day they will all share Our punishment. 33 Surely thus do We deal with the guilty. 34 They were the ones, who on being told, "God is only One," become puffed-up with pride 35 And were saying, "Are we to leave our gods for a mad poet?" 36 Nay, but he [whom you call a mad poet] has brought the truth; and he confirms the truth of [what the earlier of God's] message-bearers [have taught]. 37 Ye shall indeed taste of the Grievous Penalty;- 38 And be rewarded but only for what you had done, 39 But for the sincere worshipers of Allah, 40 For them is the sustenance known to Us. 41 Fruits of every kind, and they will be honoured 42 In Gardens of Delight. 43 Facing one another on thrones, 44 a cup from a spring being passed round to them, 45 delicious to those who drink it 46 Neither they will have Ghoul (any kind of hurt, abdominal pain, headache, a sin, etc.) from that, nor will they suffer intoxication therefrom. 47 And with them will be mates of modest gaze, most beautiful of eye, 48 [as free of faults] as if they were hidden [ostrich] eggs. 49 They will turn to each other and ask questions. 50 One of them will say: “I had a companion in the world 51 who used to ask, 'Do you really believe that 52 After we are dead and have become all dust and bones shall we still be requited?' 53 (A voice) said: "Would ye like to look down?" 54 Then he will look down and see him in the midst of the Flaming Fire. 55 He will say, "By Allah, you almost ruined me. 56 for had it not been for my Sustainer's favour, I would surely be [now] among those who are given over [to suffering]! 57 He will ask his companion, "Did you not say that there would only be one death 58 “Except our earlier death, and nor will we be punished?” 59 Surely this is the supreme triumph. 60 for the like of this let the workers work.' 61 Is that (Paradise) better entertainment or the tree of Zaqqum (a horrible tree in Hell)? 62 Lo! We have appointed it a torment for wrong-doers. 63 For it is a tree that springs out of the bottom of Hell-Fire: 64 Its crop is as it were the heads of devils 65 Then most surely they shall eat of it and fill (their) bellies with it. 66 Then on top of that they will be given a mixture made of boiling water. 67 Then shall their return be to the (Blazing) Fire. 68 They had found their fathers astray, 69 yet they run in their footsteps, 70 yet before them most of the ancients went astray, 71 And certainly We sent among them warners. 72 and behold what happened in the end to those that had been warned [to no avail]! 73 except for God's sincere servants. 74
