The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Woe to the defrauders, 1 those who, when they are to receive their due from [other] people, demand that it be given in full 2 but when they measure or weigh for others, they reduce! 3 Think they not that they will be resurrected (for reckoning), 4 On a Great Day, 5 A Day when (all) mankind will stand before the Lord of the Worlds? 6 Indeed the ledger of the wicked will be in (the lowest depths) Sijjin. 7 and what could make you understand what the Sijjin is? -- 8 The record is a sealed text. 9 Ruin is for the deniers on that day! 10 and those who have rejected the Day of Judgment. 11 And none can deny it except every transgressor beyond bounds, (in disbelief, oppression and disobedience of Allah, the sinner!) 12 who, when listening to Our revelations, say, "These are only ancient legends". 13 By no means! Aye! encrusted upon their hearts is that which they have been earning. 14 No indeed; but upon that day they shall be veiled from their Lord, 15 They will suffer the heat of fire 16 and be told: "This is the [very thing] to which you were wont to give the lie!" 17 By no means! Verily the record of the virtuous shall be in 'Illiyun. 18 and what will make you understand what the 'Illiyyin is? -- 19 It is [their destination recorded in] a register inscribed 20 Which is witnessed by those brought near [to Allah]. 21 Verily the pious will be in heaven, 22 resting on couches, looking around. 23 You will recognise in their faces the brightness of delight. 24 They will be given a drink of pure wine whereon the seal [of God] will have been set, 25 The last thereof (that wine) will be the smell of musk, and for this let (all) those strive who want to strive (i.e. hasten earnestly to the obedience of Allah). 26 And mixed with water of Tasnim, 27 A fountain from which only they who are honoured drink. 28 The sinners laughed at the believers 29 when they passed by them they winked, 30 And when they went back to their people turned to make fun of them; 31 and when they saw them they said, 'Lo, these men are astray!' 32 (they said so although) they had not been appointed watchers over them. 33 This day it is those who believe who have the laugh of disbelievers, 34 On high couches, gazing. 35 The infidels have indeed been rewarded for that which they had been doing. 36
