Those who disbelieved from among the children of Israel were cursed by the tongue of Dawood and Isa, son of Marium; this was because they disobeyed and used to exceed the limit. 78 They did not prevent each other from committing sins nor would they themselves stay away from them. Evil was what they had done! 79 Thou seest many of them turning in friendship to the Unbelievers. Evil indeed are (the works) which their souls have sent forward before them (with the result), that Allah's wrath is on them, and in torment will they abide. 80 And had they believed in Allah and the prophet and what was revealed to him, they would not have taken them for friends but! most of them are transgressors. 81 ۞ You will surely find the most intense of the people in animosity toward the believers [to be] the Jews and those who associate others with Allah; and you will find the nearest of them in affection to the believers those who say, "We are Christians." That is because among them are priests and monks and because they are not arrogant. 82 and when they hear what has been sent down to the Messenger, thou seest their eyes overflow with tears because of the truth they recognize. They say, 'Our Lord, we believe; so do Thou write us down among the witnesses. 83 And why should we not believe in Allah and the Truth which has come down to us when we do fervently desire that our Lord include us among the righteous?' 84 Therefore Allah rewarded them on account of what they said, with gardens in which rivers flow to abide in them; and this is the reward of those who do good (to others). 85 But those who reject Faith and belie our Signs,- they shall be companions of Hell-fire. 86
