The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the event befalleth - 1 And there can be no denying of its befalling. 2 (a calamitous Event) that shall turn things upside down: 3 When the earth is shaken with convulsion 4 The mountains bruised and crushed, 5 Becoming dust scattered abroad, 6 And you become [of] three kinds: 7 So those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 8 And those on the left – how (wretched) are those on the left! 9 As for the Foremost, they will be the foremost! 10 (The foremost ones) will be the nearest ones to God 11 In Gardens of Delight. 12 A multitude of those of old 13 And a few of the later peoples, 14 On studded thrones. 15 Reclining on them, facing one another. 16 They will be served by immortal boys, 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of limpid drink. 18 which will not cause them any intoxication or illness. 19 And fruits that they may like. 20 And with flesh of fowls from that which they desire. 21 And (there are) fair ones with wide, lovely eyes, 22 Like pearls within their shells, 23 A recompense for that which they have been working. 24 There hear they no vain speaking nor recrimination 25 Only a saying: "Peace, peace." 26 And those on the Right Hand, Who will be those on the Right Hand? 27 Amid thornless lote-trees, 28 And banana-trees (with fruits), one above another. 29 and continuous shade, 30 near to flowing water 31 and abundant fruits, 32 Whose season is not limited, and their supply will not be cut off, 33 And on Thrones (of Dignity), raised high. 34 Verily We! We have created those maidens by a creation. 35 having resurrected them as virgins, 36 loving companions, matching in age, 37 for those on the Right, 38
