The Mountain (Al-Toor)
49 verses, revealed in Mecca after Prostration (Al-Sajdah) before Kingship (Al-Mulk)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By the mount. 1 And [by] a Book inscribed 2 In parchment unrolled. 3 The house ever-peopled, 4 and the uplifted roof 5 And [by] the sea filled [with fire], 6 VERILY, [O man,] the suffering decreed by thy Sustainer [for the sinners] will indeed come to pass: 7 There shall be none to avert it; 8 On the Day the heaven will sway with circular motion 9 and the mountains shall violently fly about. 10 Will be the day of woe for those 11 Who play in talk of grave matters; 12 A day when they will be pushed, forcibly shoved towards the fire of hell. 13 This is the Fire which ye were wont to believe. 14 "Is this then a fake, or is it ye that do not see? 15 Roast in it, bear it with or without patience, it is the same, you are only being recompensed for that which you used to do' 16 Truly, the God-fearing will dwell [on that Day] in gardens and in bliss, 17 Rejoicing because of what their Lord gave them, and their Lord saved them from the punishment of the burning fire. 18 'Eat and drink, with wholesome appetite, for that you were working. 19 They will recline (with ease) on Thrones (of dignity) arranged in ranks; and We shall join them to Companions, with beautiful big and lustrous eyes. 20 And those who accepted faith, and whose descendants followed them with faith – We have joined their descendants with them, and have not reduced anything for them from their deeds; every soul is trapped in its own deeds. 21 We shall provide them with fruits and the meat of the kind which they desire. 22 There they will pass a goblet to one another with neither idle talk nor sin, 23 ۞ And there will go round boy-servants of theirs, to serve them as if they were preserved pearls. 24 They will ask each other questions, 25 Saying, “Indeed before this, we were in our houses, worried.” 26 Wherefore Allah hath obliged us, and hath protected us from the torment of the Scorch. 27 Verily we were wont to pray unto Him aforetime; verily He! it is He, the Benign, the Merciful. 28

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
