And rehearse to them (something of) Abraham's story. 69 [how it was] when he asked his father and his people, "What is it that you worship?" 70 They said, 'We serve idols, and continue cleaving to them. 71 'Do they hear you when you call on them' He asked. 72 or do they cause you any benefit or harm?" 73 They said: "Nay, but we found our fathers doing so." 74 He said, 'And have you considered what you have been serving, 75 "You and your ancient fathers? 76 Verily they are an enemy unto me, save the Lord of the worlds. 77 "Who has created me, and it is He Who guides me; 78 “And the One Who feeds me and gives me to drink.” 79 and heals me when I am sick. 80 And He Who shall cause me to die, and then shall quicken me. 81 And Who, I hope, will forgive me my mistakes on the day of judgment. 82 My Lord: Grant me wisdom, and join me with the good 83 “And give me proper fame among the succeeding generations.” 84 And place me among the inheritors of the Garden of Pleasure. 85 And forgive my father, for surely he is of those who have gone astray; 86 Do not degrade me on the Day when they are resurrected. 87 “The day when neither wealth will benefit nor will sons.” 88 But only one who comes to Allah with a sound heart." 89 "To the righteous, the Garden will be brought near, 90 And Hell made visible to those who had gone astray. 91 And it will be said to them, "Where are those you used to worship 92 “Instead of Allah? Will they help you or retaliate?” 93 Thereupon they will be hurled into hell - they, as well as all [others] who had been lost in grievous error, 94 "And the whole hosts of Iblis together. 95 Disputing among themselves they will say: 96 "We were clearly misguided 97 when we made you equal with the Lord of all Being. 98 No one but the sinners led us astray. 99 So now we have no intercessors 100 Nor any loving friend. 101 But if we could but once return, we would be of the believers. 102 Verily herein is a sign, but most of them are not believers. 103 And indeed your Lord only He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 104
