The Arrangers (Al-Saaffaat)
182 verses, revealed in Mecca after Animals (Al-An 'aam) before Luqmaan (Luqmaan)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By oath of those who establish proper ranks. 1 And those who restrain by reprimanding, 2 By those (angels) who bring the Book and the Quran from Allah to mankind [Tafsir Ibn Kathir]. 3 your God is One, 4 The Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that lies between them, and the Lord of the Easts. 5 Behold, We have adorned the skies nearest to the earth with the beauty of stars, 6 With security from every froward devil. 7 they listen not to the High Council, for they are pelted from every side, 8 And kept far away. There is perpetual punishment for them, 9 Some of them who stealthily steal words from the heavens are pursued by a glistening flame. 10 Then ask them whether they are stronger in creation or those (others) whom We have created. Surely We created them of firm clay. 11 Rather you are surprised, whereas they keep mocking. 12 When they are reminded, they do not remember. 13 And seek to scoff when they behold a portent. 14 And say, "This is nothing but evident sorcery! 15 When we are dead and turned to dust and bones, how can we be raised again, 16 And our fathers too?" 17 Say thou: and verily ye; shall then be despicable. 18 There will be but a single blast and then their eyes will open. 19 and they will say: 'Woe for us. This is the Day of Recompense' 20 [It will be said], "This is the Day of Judgement which you have been denying." 21
