The Human (Al-Insan)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
WAS THERE NOT a time in the life of man when he was not even a mentionable thing? 1 Verily We created Man from a drop of mingled sperm, in order to try him: So We gave him (the gifts), of Hearing and Sight. 2 We have indeed shown him the way – whether he is grateful or ingrate. 3 We have prepared chains, shackles, and flaming fire (for the disbelievers). 4 As to the Righteous, they shall drink of a Cup (of Wine) mixed with Kafur,- 5 a fountain at which the worshipers of Allah drink and make it gush forth abundantly; 6 They perform (their) vows, and they fear a Day whose evil flies far and wide. 7 they give food, despite their love for it, to the poor and orphans and captives, 8 (Saying): We feed you, for the sake of Allah only. We wish for no reward nor thanks from you; 9 for we fear from our Lord a stern, frownful Day' 10 Therefore Allah will guard them from the evil of that day and cause them to meet with ease and happiness; 11 And shall recompense them for that which they patiently bare with a Garden and silken garment. 12 Reclining therein upon couches, they will find there neither (heat of) a sun nor bitter cold. 13 near them shall be its shades, and its clusters hung meekly down, 14 and passed around them shall be silver vessels, and crystal goblets, 15 Glass made from silver, which the servers have filled up to the measure. 16 And they shall be made to drink therein a cup the admixture of which shall be ginger, 17 from a fountain called Salsabila. 18 ۞ Immortal youths shall go about them; when thou seest them, thou supposest them scattered pearls, 19 When you look around, you will see delights and great dominion. 20 Upon them shall be garments of fine green silk and thick silk interwoven with gold, and they shall be adorned with bracelets of silver, and their Lord shall make them drink a pure drink. 21 (And it will be said to them): "Verily, this is a reward for you, and your endeavour has been accepted." 22
