Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
60 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Dunes (Al-Ahqaaf) before Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By the dipersing winds that disperse. 1 by the clouds which are heavily loaded with water, 2 And those that flow with ease and gentleness; 3 And those [angels] apportioning [each] matter, 4 indeed, that which you are promised is true, 5 the Judgement will surely come to pass -- 6 by the heaven full of tracks, 7 your ideas are confused. 8 From which only he turns who is turned away. 9 Cursed be the liars, 10 Who are careless in an abyss! 11 They ask: “When will the Day of Judgement be?” 12 On the Day of Judgment they will be punished by the fire 13 (and be told): “Taste your ordeal! This is what you were seeking to hasten.” 14 Verily the God-fearing will be amid Gardens and water-springs. 15 They shall receive what their Lord will bestow on them. They have done good works in the past, 16 They used to sleep but little of the night, 17 And in the hour of early dawn, they (were found) praying for Forgiveness; 18 And in their wealth and possessions (was remembered) the right of the (needy,) him who asked, and him who (for some reason) was prevented (from asking). 19 And in the earth there are signs for those who are sure, 20 and also in your own selves. Do you not see? 21 In heaven is your sustenance, and also that which you are promised. 22 Then by the Lord of the heaven and earth, indeed, it is truth - just as [sure as] it is that you are speaking. 23
