The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the event befalleth - 1 no soul will deny its coming. 2 (a calamitous Event) that shall turn things upside down: 3 when the earth shall be rocked 4 And the mountains will be crushed, blown to bits. 5 So that they will become floating dust particles. 6 [on that Day] you shall be divided into three groups. 7 Those of the right hand -- how (happy) will be those of the right hand! 8 The people of the left hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their left hands. How miserable they will be! 9 And the foremost in the race, the foremost in the race: 10 These are they who are drawn nigh (to Allah), 11 In the gardens of bliss. 12 a large group of the early believers, 13 And a few of the later peoples, 14 On lined couches, 15 reclining upon them, facing one another [in love]. 16 There wait on them immortal youths 17 with goblets and ewers and a cup filled with a drink drawn from a running spring, 18 that will neither make the head throb, nor intoxicate, 19 And fruit that they prefer 20 and such flesh of fowl as they desire, 21 And wide eyed houris 22 The like of the hidden pearls: 23 As recompense for all they had done. 24 They will hear no nonsense there or talk of sin, 25 only the saying 'Peace, Peace!' 26 As for those of the right hand -- how (happy) those of the right hand -- 27 [They will be] among lote trees with thorns removed 28 Among Talh (banana-trees) with fruits piled one above another, 29 and shade extended, 30 near to flowing water 31 And fruits numberless, 32 unfailing and not forbidden. 33 and upraised couches. 34 Lo! We have created them a (new) creation 35 having resurrected them as virgins, 36 intensely loving and of matching age. 37 for the Companions of the Right 38
