The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By those (angels) that pluck out the soul from depths, 1 and move [in their orbits] with steady motion, 2 By the lone stars floating, 3 and yet overtake [one another] with swift overtaking: 4 And those who govern the event, 5 One Day everything that can be in commotion will be in violent commotion, 6 And there will follow it the next blast. 7 On that Day some hearts shall tremble (with fright), 8 [and] their eyes downcast... 9 They say: “Shall we indeed be restored to life, 10 "Even after we are crumbled bones?" 11 They say, "That, then, would be a losing return." 12 But it shall be only a single scare, 13 and then, lo, they will be fully awakened [to the truth]! 14 Has the story of Moses come to you 15 Recall what time his Lord called unto him in the holy vale of Tuwa. 16 saying 'Go to Pharaoh, he has become exceedingly insolent, 17 And say to him: "Would you purify yourself (from the sin of disbelief by becoming a believer)", 18 [If so,] then I shall guide thee towards [a cognition of] thy Sustainer, so that [henceforth] thou wilt stand in awe [of Him].'" 19 Moses showed him the great miracle 20 But he rejected (the truth) and disobeyed. 21 Then he went back hastily. 22 Then he gathered and cried aloud, 23 Saying, "I am your Lord, Most High". 24 And thereupon God took him to task, [and made him] a warning example in the life to come as well as in this world. 25 In this there is a lesson for those who have fear of God. 26
