The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Woe unto the scrimpers: 1 those who, when they are to receive their due from [other] people, demand that it be given in full 2 but when they measure or weigh for others, they reduce! 3 Do they not know that they are bound to be raised from the dead 4 Unto an Awful Day, 5 The Day when mankind will stand before the Lord of the Universe? 6 By no means! Verily the record of the ungodly is in Sijjin. 7 And what will make you know what Sijjin is? 8 (It is) a marked Book. 9 Woe that day unto those who cry it lies, 10 those who give the lie to the [coming of] Judgment Day: 11 And none gives the lie to it but every exceeder of limits, sinful one 12 When Our Signs are rehearsed to him, he says, "Tales of the ancients!" 13 Nay, but that which they have earned is rust upon their hearts. 14 Indeed! On that Day a barrier will be set between them and their Lord, 15 Then they will indeed burn in Hell. 16 Further, it will be said to them: "This is the (reality) which ye rejected as false! 17 Nay, but the record of the righteous is in 'Illiyin - 18 But how will you comprehend what 'Illiyun is? 19 A record [indelibly] inscribed, 20 Witnessed by those who are honoured. 21 Most surely the righteous shall be in bliss, 22 resting on couches, looking around. 23 You shall see upon their faces the glow of bliss. 24 They will be served the choicest wine, sealed 25 its seal will be of musk -- for this let the aspirants aspire -- 26 for it is composed of all that is most exalting 27 A spring whereof drink those nearest to Allah. 28 Verily! (During the worldly life) those who committed crimes used to laugh at those who believed. 29 And, when they passed them, to wink at each other, 30 and, on returning to their people, boast about what they had done. 31 And when they saw them, they said: verily these are the strayed ones. 32 Whereas they were not sent over them as watchers. 33 So this day it is the believers who laugh at the disbelievers. 34 Reclining on couches, looking on. 35 Have the unbelievers been duly rewarded for their deeds? 36
