The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ When the Event (i.e. the Day of Resurrection) befalls. 1 There is no denying that it will befall - 2 abasing [some,] exalting [others]! 3 when the earth shall be rocked 4 And the mountains are crumbled, crumbled. 5 So that they become dust seattered. 6 You will become three categories: 7 Then the companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 8 And there shall be such as will have lost themselves in evil: oh, how [unhappy] will be they who have lost themselves in evil! 9 And the forerunners, the forerunners - 10 they who were [always] drawn close unto God! 11 In the Gardens of delight (Paradise). 12 A number of people from those of old, 13 but [only] a few of later times. 14 On couches in wrought with gold. 15 Reclining therein face to face. 16 There wait on them immortal youths 17 Carrying bowls and pitchers – and cups filled with wine flowing before them. 18 Whereby there shall be neither headiness nor will they be inebriated. 19 and such fruits as they shall choose, 20 and the meat of any bird that they may desire; 21 And (there will be) Houris (fair females) with wide, lovely eyes (as wives for the pious), 22 Like unto Pearls well-guarded. 23 Reward for what they used to do. 24 They will not hear therein any vain or sinful talk, 25 Other than "Peace, peace" the salutation. 26 The Companions of the Right Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 27 Among thorn-less lote-trees. 28 and clustered bananas, 29 and shade extended, 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 and an abundance of fruits, 32 unfailing and not forbidden. 33 and raised couches 34 Lo! We have created them a (new) creation 35 And made them virgins, 36 Lovers, friends, 37 For the fellows on the right hand. 38
