The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By those (angels) that pluck out the soul from depths, 1 And [by] those who remove with ease 2 And who glide with ease. 3 And those who race each other in a race 4 Then those who regulate the affair. 5 The day on which the quaking one shall quake, 6 and the second blast follows it, 7 hearts will undergo terrible trembling, 8 [and] their eyes downcast... 9 They are [presently] saying, "Will we indeed be returned to [our] former state [of life]? 10 even after we are fragmented bones' 11 They say: "It would in that case, be a return with loss!" 12 It will be only one scaring shout, 13 and lo, they will all be in the open plain. 14 Has there come to you the story of Musa (Moses)? 15 When his Lord called to him in the holy valley, Towa: 16 Saying: go thou unto Fir'awn; verily he hath waxen exorbitant. 17 "Tell him 'Do you have the inclination to become pure?' 18 [If so,] then I shall guide thee towards [a cognition of] thy Sustainer, so that [henceforth] thou wilt stand in awe [of Him].'" 19 So he showed him the mighty sign. 20 but he belied and disobeyed, 21 and then he turned back to have recourse to his craftiness, 22 Then gathered he and summoned 23 And said, "I am your most exalted lord." 24 So Allah seized him (and made him) an example for the after (life) and for the former. 25 Truly there is a lesson in this for those who fear the consequences. 26
