The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Praise be to Allah Who has revealed to His servant the Book devoid of all crookedness; 1 so that he could warn them of His stern retribution, give the glad news of the best and everlasting reward to the righteously striving believers, 2 Wherein they will abide for ever; 3 And that it may warn those who say: God hath taken a son. 4 No knowledge have they of such a thing, nor had their fathers. Mighty is the word that comes out of their mouths [i.e. He begot (took) sons and daughters]. They utter nothing but a lie. 5 Yet perchance, if they do not believe in this tiding, you will consume yourself with grief and follow after them. 6 Indeed, We have made that which is on the earth adornment for it that We may test them [as to] which of them is best in deed. 7 We will surely reduce all that is on it to barren dust. 8 Or have you thought that the companions of the cave and the inscription were, among Our signs, a wonder? 9 When those youths sought refuge in the Cave and said: "Our Lord! Grant us mercy from Yourself and provide for us rectitude in our affairs." 10 Then We sealed up their hearing in the Cave for a number of years. 11 and then roused them so that We might see which of the two parties could best tell the length of their stay. 12
