And when the messengers came unto the family of Lot, 61 He said, “You are an unfamiliar people.” 62 They said: "Nay, we have come to you with that (torment) which they have been doubting. 63 and we have come to you with the truth, and surely we are truthful, 64 So travel with thy household in a portion of the night, and follow thou their backs. Let none of you turn round, but go whither ye are commanded. 65 And We communicated to him the decree that by the morning those people will be totally destroyed. 66 The inhabitants of the city came in (mad) joy (at news of the young men). 67 Exclaimed [Lot]: "Behold, these are my guests: so put me not to shame, 68 And fear Allah, and humiliate me not. 69 They said, “Had we not forbidden you from meddling in the affairs of anyone?” 70 He said: these are my daughters, if act ye must. 71 By your life! they were blindly wandering on in their intoxication. 72 So they were seized by the mighty blast at break of day; 73 And We turned (the towns of Sodom in Palestine) upside down and rained down on them stones of baked clay. 74 Behold! in this are Signs for those who by tokens do understand. 75 The place (where this occurred) lies along a known route. 76 Behold! in this is a sign for those who believed. 77 The dwellers of the Wood (near Midian) were also wicked. 78 and We took vengeance on them. The two of them were upon a roadway manifest. 79
