Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ OH, THE LAYING-BARE of the truth! 1 and what is the Resurrection Verifier? 2 And what would make you realize what the sure calamity is! 3 The people of Thamud and Ad denied the Day of Judgment. 4 But the Thamud,- they were destroyed by a terrible Storm of thunder and lightning! 5 and the Ad were destroyed by a furiously raging wind-storm 6 Which He imposed on them for seven long nights and eight long days so that thou mightest have seen men lying overthrown, as they were hollow trunks of palm-trees. 7 Do you then see of them one remaining? 8 And Fir'aun (Pharaoh), and those before him, and the cities overthrown [the towns of the people of [Lout (Lot)] committed sin, 9 They defied their Lord's messenger, so He seized them with an ever-tightening grip. 10 [And] behold: when the waters [of Noah's flood] burst beyond all limits, it was We who caused you to be borne [to safety] in that floating ark, 11 so that We might make all this a [lasting] reminder to you all, and that every wide-awake ear might consciously take it in. 12 And when the trumpet shall sound a single blast. 13 the earth and mountains will be raised up high and crushed all together. 14 Then on that Day shall happen the Event. 15 and the heavens will be rent asunder, 16 The angels will appear by its sides and, on that Day, eight [angels] will bear your Lord's throne above them. 17 That will be the Day when you shall be brought forth (before Allah) and no secret of yours shall remain hidden. 18 Then as for him who will be given his Record in his right hand will say: "Take, read my Record! 19 "Surely, I did believe that I shall meet my Account!" 20 So he shall be in a life, well-pleasing. 21 in a lofty garden, 22 its fruits are near. 23 (It will be said): 'Eat and drink with a good appetite because of what you did in days long passed' 24 Then as to him who shall be vouchsafed his book in his left hand, he shall say: Oh! would that I had not been vouchsafed my book. 25 And had not known what is my account. 26 Oh, would that it had been death! 27 My wealth has not availed me. 28 "My power has perished from me!"... 29 'Take him, and fetter him, 30 Then throw him in the blazing Fire. 31 and then thrust him into a chain [of other sinners like him - a chain] the length whereof is seventy cubits: 32 Lo! He used not to believe in Allah the Tremendous, 33 Nor urged others to feed the poor. 34 So there is not for him here this Day any devoted friend 35 nor any food save the filth 36 "Which none do eat but those in sin." 37
