Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ The Inevitable Hour! 1 and what is the Resurrection Verifier? 2 And what will make you realize what the Inevitable Hour is? 3 The tribes of Thamud and 'Aad belied the Striking Day. 4 As for Thamud, they were destroyed by the lightning. 5 and as for the 'Ad - they were destroyed by a storm wind furiously raging, 6 violent that He compelled against them seven nights and eight days, uninterruptedly, and thou mightest see the people laid prostrate in it as if they were the stumps of fallen down palm-trees. 7 Do you now see any trace of them? 8 And Pharaoh, and those before him, and the Cities Overthrown, committed habitual Sin. 9 They defied their Lord's messenger, so He seized them with an ever-tightening grip. 10 Verily when the water rose to great heights, We bore you upon a floating vessel (i.e. the Ark) 11 that We might make it a reminder for you and for heeding ears to hold. 12 When the single blast is sounded on the trumpet, 13 And the earth and the mountains shall be borne and the twain shall be crushed with a single crash. 14 And so, that which must come to pass will on that day have come to pass; 15 And the sky will be rent asunder, for it will that Day be flimsy, 16 And the angels are at its edges. And there will bear the Throne of your Lord above them, that Day, eight [of them]. 17 On that day all your secrets will be exposed. 18 Then, as for him who is given his record in his right hand, he will say: Take, read my book! 19 Certainly I thought that I should encounter my reckoning.' 20 And he will be in a life of Bliss, 21 in a lofty garden, 22 Whereof the clusters are in easy reach. 23 Eat and drink with benefit for that which ye sent on beforehand in days past. 24 But as for he who is given his record in his left hand, he will say, "Oh, I wish I had not been given my record 25 And not known my account! 26 I wish my death had been the decisive one. 27 My wealth has not availed me, 28 Vanished has my power from me." 29 "Seize him and manacle him, 30 Then into Hellfire drive him. 31 And string him to a chain seventy cubits long. 32 for he did not believe in Almighty God, 33 and did not feel any urge to feed the needy: 34 "So no friend hath he here this Day. 35 nor any food except foul pus 36 that none but sinners eat' 37
