The Night (Al-Layl)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the night as it envelops; 1 And the day when it shines in brightness, 2 And the creating of the male and the female, 3 Indeed, your efforts are diverse. 4 For him that gives and fears (Allah) 5 And accepts the best, 6 for him shall We make easy the path towards [ultimate] ease. 7 But he who does not give and is unconcerned, 8 and cries lies to the reward most fair, 9 We shall facilitate the path to affliction 10 and his wealth shall be of no avail to him when he perishes. 11 It is indeed for Us to show the way, 12 And to Us belong the End and the Beginning. 13 Wherefore I have warned you of Fire flaming, 14 None except the most wicked will enter it. 15 Who gives the lie (to the truth) and turns (his) back. 16 But save him who fears 17 And gives of his wealth that he may grow in virtue, 18 and owes no favour to anyone, which is to be repaid, 19 Except only the desire to seek the Countenance of his Lord, the Most High; 20 surely, he shall be satisfied. 21
