۞ Before this We gave Abraham his virtue, for We knew him. 51 Recall what time he said unto his father and his people: what are these images to which ye are cleaving? 52 They replied: "We found our fathers worshipping them." 53 He said: assuredly ye, ye and your fathers, have been in error manifest. 54 They said, “Have you brought the Truth to us, or are you just making fun?” 55 He said, “In fact, your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, the One Who created them; and I am of those who testify to it.” 56 By Allah, I shall certainly carry out my plan against your gods after you are gone." 57 Then he broke them all into pieces, sparing only the supreme one among them that they may possibly return to him. 58 [When they saw what had happened,] they said: "Who has done this to our gods? Verily, one of the worst wrongdoers is he!" 59 They said, "We heard a young man mention them who is called Abraham." 60 They said: Then bring him (hither) before the people's eyes that they may testify. 61 They said: art thou the one who hath wrought this unto our gods, O Ibrahim? 62 He answered: "Rather it was this supreme one who has done it. So ask them, if they can speak." 63 Then gathered they apart and said: Lo! ye yourselves are the wrong-doers. 64 Then they reversed themselves, [saying], "You have already known that these do not speak!" 65 He said, 'What, and do you serve, apart from God, that which profits you nothing; neither hurts you? 66 Fie upon you and that you serve apart from God! Do you not understand?' 67 They said: "Burn him, and come to the support of your gods, if you are going to do anything." 68 We said: O fire! be thou cool and peace unto Ibrahim. 69 They wished to entrap him, but We made them greater losers. 70 So We delivered him and Lot, and brought them to the land We had blessed for all the people. 71 And We gave him Isaac and Jacob in superfluity, and every one made We righteous 72 And We made them leaders to guide (the people) by Our command; and We inspired them to perform good deeds and observe their moral obligations and pay the zakat; and they obeyed Us. 73 To Lot We gave wisdom and knowledge, and saved him from a people who acted villainously and were certainly wicked and disobedient. 74 And We admitted him into Our mercy; indeed he is among those who deserve Our proximity. 75
