Whatever of misfortune striketh you, it is what your right hands have earned. And He forgiveth much. 30 You are not able to frustrate Him in the earth, nor do you have a guardian and a helper other than Allah. 31 And of His signs are the ships in the sea like landmarks. 32 If He so wills, He can cause the winds to become still so that they will remain motionless on its surface. Surely there are many Signs in this for those who are wont to be steadfast and give thanks. 33 or He could have destroyed them as punishment for the human being's deeds. However, God pardons many sins. 34 Then those who wrangle about Our Signs will come to know that there is no escape for them. 35 Whatever you have been given is only a temporary provision of this life, but that which is with God is better and more lasting for those who believe and put their trust in their Lord; 36 And those who avoid heinous sins and indecencies, and when they are wroth forgive. 37 And those who respond to their Lord and keep up prayer, and their rule is to take counsel among themselves, and who spend out of what We have given them. 38 And those who take revenge when rebellion harms them. 39 The recompense of a sin is a sin like it, but whosoever forgives and seeks to reform, his wage will be with Allah. Surely, He does not love the harmdoers. 40 Those who successfully defend themselves after being wronged will not be questioned. 41 The blame is only against those who wrong people, and are wrongfully insolent in the earth, for them there is a painful punishment. 42 To exercise patience and forgive (the wrong done to one) is the proof of genuine determination. 43
