Have you seen the one who turned away 33 And gave a little and [then] refrained? 34 Is with him the knowledge of the unseen so that he sees? 35 Or has he never yet been told of what was [said] in the revelations of Moses, 36 And Abraham who paid his debt: 37 That no bearer of burdens will bear the burden of another 38 nor can man achieve anything without hard labor. 39 And that his effort will be seen. 40 Then he will be fully repaid for it? 41 That to thy Lord is the final Goal; 42 And that it is He who makes [one] laugh and weep 43 And that it is He who causes death and gives life 44 and that He Himself created the two sexes: male and female, 45 from a discharged living germ 46 and that upon Him is the second creation 47 and that it is He who gives wealth and riches, 48 That He is the Lord of Sirius (the Mighty Star); 49 And that it is He Who earlier destroyed the tribe of Aad? 50 and Thamud, leaving no trace of them, 51 And before them, the people of Nooh? Indeed they were more unjust and more rebellious than these! 52 And the overturned towns He hurled down 53 And covered them by that which He covered. 54 Then which of thy Lord's bounties disputest thou? 55 This is a warner, of the warners of old. 56 The Imminent is imminent; 57 No one besides God can rescue a soul from hardship. 58 Does this statement seem strange to them 59 And you laugh at it and weep not, 60 Wasting your (precious) lifetime in pastime and amusements (singing, etc.). 61 But fall ye down in prostration to Allah, and adore (Him)! ۩ 62
