The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the forthcoming event does occur. 1 – and then there will be no one to deny its occurrence – 2 Abasing (one party), exalting (the other), 3 When the earth is shaken violently, 4 And the mountains are broken down, crumbling 5 and become a dust, scattered, 6 [on that Day] you shall be divided into three groups. 7 (First) those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 8 And (as to) the companions of the left hand; how wretched are the companions of the left hand! 9 And the forerunners, the forerunners - 10 Those are they who will be brought nigh 11 in the Gardens of Bliss. 12 a large group of the early believers, 13 And a few of later ages, 14 (They will be) on Thrones encrusted (with gold and precious stones), 15 reclining upon them, facing one another [in love]. 16 Immortal youths will serve them 17 with goblets, and ewers, and cups filled with water from unsullied springs 18 No headache will they have therefrom, nor will they be intoxicated - 19 And fruits that they may like. 20 And the meat of fowl, from whatever they desire. 21 And (there will be) Houris (fair females) with wide, lovely eyes (as wives for the pious), 22 like unto pearls [still] hidden in their shells. 23 as reward for their deeds. 24 They will not hear therein any vain or sinful talk, 25 Except the word peace, peace. 26 The companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 27 [They, too, will find themselves] amidst fruit laden lote-trees, 28 and serried acacias, 29 And a shade ever-spread. 30 and flowing water, 31 And fruit in abundance. 32 unfailing and not forbidden. 33 And raised couches. 34 Indeed We formed them (the houris and all believing women), 35 Then We have made them virgins, 36 Loving, equals in age, 37 For those on the right. 38
