The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When there happeneth the Event. 1 (and none denies its descending) 2 Abasing exalting. 3 when the earth shall be rocked 4 And the mountains are crumbled, crumbled. 5 Turned to dust, floating in the air, 6 You will become three categories: 7 Companions of the Right, what are the Companions of the Right? 8 And there shall be such as will have lost themselves in evil: oh, how [unhappy] will be they who have lost themselves in evil! 9 And the forerunners, the forerunners - 10 those are they brought near (to their Lord) 11 They are in Gardens of peace. 12 A throng of the ancients, 13 And a few of those of later time. 14 (They will be) on thrones woven with gold and precious stones, 15 reclining upon them, set face to face, 16 There will circulate among them young boys made eternal 17 with goblets, jugs and cups of crystal clear wine 18 by which their minds will not be clouded and which will not make them drunk; 19 And with fruits, any that they may select: 20 And with flesh of fowls from that which they desire. 21 and there shall be wide-eyed maidens, 22 like hidden pearls, 23 a recompense for all that they did. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk nor any sinful speech. 25 All talk will be sound and upright. 26 And those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 27 They will be in (the shade) of thornless lote 28 And banana-trees (with fruits), one above another. 29 and spreading shade 30 Gushing water, 31 And abundant fruit, 32 Whose season is not limited, and their supply will not be cut off, 33 And on couches or thrones, raised high. 34 and the noble maidens that We have created 35 And made them virgins, 36 Loving, of equal age. 37 For the sake of the companions of the right hand. 38
