The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the Occurrence occurs, 1 There is about its happening no lie. 2 Abasing exalting. 3 When the earth shall be shaken with a (severe) shaking, 4 And the mountains shall be crumbled to atoms, 5 Becoming dust scattered abroad, 6 And you become [of] three kinds: 7 So those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 8 Then those of the left hand -- how (unhappy) will be those of the left hand! 9 And those foremost [(in Islamic Faith of Monotheism and in performing righteous deeds) in the life of this world on the very first call for to embrace Islam,] will be foremost (in Paradise). 10 These will be those nearest to Allah. 11 In Gardens of Bliss: 12 A throng of the ancients, 13 And a few from among the latter. 14 [They will be seated] on gold-encrusted thrones of happiness, 15 Reclining therein face to face. 16 Immortal youths will wait upon them 17 With vessels, pitchers and a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring - 18 by which their minds will not be clouded and which will not make them drunk; 19 And with fruit from that which they choose. 20 and such flesh of fowl as they desire, 21 and there shall be wide-eyed maidens, 22 Like unto Pearls well-guarded. 23 All this shall be theirs as a reward for their deeds. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk nor any sinful speech. 25 Except the saying, “Peace, peace.” 26 The Companions of the Right Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 27 (They will be) among Lote-trees without thorns, 28 and serried acacias, 29 In shade long-extended, 30 And in perpetually flowing water. 31 And fruit in plenty, 32 undiminished and never denied 33 And carpets raised. 34 We have indeed developed these women with an excellent development. 35 Then We have made them virgins, 36 Loving companions matched in age, 37 For those on the right hand; 38
