Messengers! Eat of that which is good and do good deeds; I have knowledge of the things you do. 51 Your nation is but one nation, and I am your Lord, therefore fear Me. 52 But they cut off their religion among themselves into sects, each part rejoicing in that which is with them. 53 So leave them in their bewilderment for a while. 54 Do they think that by increasing their wealth and children 55 We hasten in good works for them? No, they are not aware. 56 Only those who are, out of fear of Him, humble before their Lord, 57 And those who believe in the signs of their Lord – 58 who associate none with their Lord, 59 And those who dispense their charity with their hearts full of fear, because they will return to their Lord;- 60 it is they who vie with one another in doing good works and shall be the foremost in doing so. 61 And We task not any soul except according to its capacity, and with Us is a book speaking with truth, and they will not be wronged. 62 In fact, the hearts of the unbelievers are in the dark because of their ignorance of real virtue; they act against it. 63 Until, when We seize in Punishment those of them who received the good things of this world, behold, they will groan in supplication! 64 Do not cry out for help this day, for surely you shall not be helped by Us. 65 “My verses were recited to you, so you used to turn back on your heels.” 66 being proud against it, talking foolishness by night. 67 Have they not pondered the saying, or came there upon them that which came not upon their fathers, the ancients? 68 Or do they not recognize their Messenger, and so deny him? 69 Or say they: There is a madness in him? Nay, but he bringeth them the Truth; and most of them are haters of the Truth. 70 But if the truth were in accord with their own likes and dislikes, the heavens and the earth would surely have fallen into ruin, and all that lives in them [would long ago have perished]! Nay, [in this divine writ] We have conveyed unto them all that they ought to bear in mind: and from this their reminder they [heedlessly] turn away! 71 Or is it that thou askest them for some recompense? But the recompense of thy Lord is best: He is the Best of those who give sustenance. 72 And verily thou! thou callest them unto a Path straight. 73 And most surely those who do not believe in the hereafter are deviating from the way. 74 ۞ Did We have mercy on them, and remove the affliction that is upon them, they would persist in their insolence wandering blindly. 75 And We had gripped them with suffering [as a warning], but they did not yield to their Lord, nor did they humbly supplicate, [and will continue thus] 76 To the extent that when We opened the gate of a severe punishment for them, they thereupon lie despairingly in it. 77
