The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the star when it plunges, 1 your companion is not in error nor has he gone astray. 2 nor does he speak out of his desire. 3 It is a revelations which has been revealed to him 4 He has been taught by the Extremely Powerful. 5 The Strong; then the Spectacle inclined towards him. 6 While he was in the higher [part of the] horizon. 7 Then the Spectacle became closer, and came down in full view. 8 Till he was (distant) two bows' length or even nearer, 9 So Allah divinely revealed to His bondman, whatever He divinely revealed. 10 His heart did not falsify what he perceived. 11 Will ye therefore dispute with him concerning that which he hath seen? 12 And certainly he saw him descend a second time: 13 to the Lot-tree (in the seven heavens) 14 Nigh thereto is the Garden of Abode. 15 (This was) when the lote-tree was covered with that which covered it. 16 The eye did not turn aside, nor did it exceed the limit. 17 Assuredly he beheld of the sign of his Lord, the greatest. 18 Have ye seen Lat. and 'Uzza, 19 And Manat, the third - the other one? 20 Do sons belong to you and daughters to God? 21 This indeed is an unjust division! 22 They are but names which ye have named, ye and your fathers, for which Allah hath sent down no authority. They follow but their fancy, and that which pleaseth their souls; whereas assuredly there hath come unto them from their Lord the guidance. 23 Can ever man get what he desires? 24 To Allah belong both the Next World and the present. 25
