The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event takes place, 1 Then will no (soul) entertain falsehood concerning its coming. 2 (Many) will it bring low; (many) will it exalt; 3 When the earth shall be shaken to its depths, 4 And the mountains shall be made to crumble with (an awful) crumbling, 5 So that they become dust seattered. 6 And you become [of] three kinds: 7 Then the companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 8 And (as to) the companions of the left hand; how wretched are the companions of the left hand! 9 And the forerunners, the forerunners - 10 they who were [always] drawn close unto God! 11 in the beautiful Paradise. 12 a large group of the early believers, 13 but only a few from the later generations. 14 (They will be) on Thrones encrusted (with gold and precious stones), 15 facing one another. 16 Immortal youths will serve them 17 With goblets, (shining) beakers, and cups (filled) out of clear-flowing fountains: 18 Their heads shall not ache with it, nor shall they lose their senses. 19 And fruits that they may like. 20 And the flesh of fowl such as they desire. 21 And companions with big beautiful eyes 22 The likenesses of pearls well-protected, 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 Therein they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 Only the saying, "Peace! Peace". 26 As for those of the right hand -- how (happy) those of the right hand -- 27 (They will be) among thornless lote-trees, 28 And clustered plantains, 29 And spreading shade, 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 And abundant fruit, 32 undiminished and never denied 33 And on Thrones (of Dignity), raised high. 34 for, behold, We shall have brought them into being in a life renewed, 35 And made them virginal, 36 full of love, well-matched 37 For the companions of the right [who are] 38
