A crowd of earlier generations 39 And a multitude of those (on the Right Hand) will be from the later times (generations). 40 As for the people on the left hand, how miserable they will be! 41 mid burning winds and boiling waters 42 and the shadow of a smoking blaze 43 Neither cool nor beneficial. 44 Surely they were before that made to live in ease and plenty. 45 and they persisted obstinately in awful sin, 46 And they were wont to say: when we have died and become dust and bones, shall we, then, verily be raised? 47 We and our fathers of old? 48 Say (O Muhammad SAW): "(Yes) verily, those of old, and those of later times. 49 "All will certainly be gathered together for the meeting appointed for a Day well-known. 50 Then you people who had gone astray and rejected the Truth 51 Shall surely eat of the tree of Az-Zqqum. 52 And will fill your bellies therewith; 53 And drink over it scalding water, 54 And will drink as the drinking of thirsty camels. 55 This shall be their hospitality on the Day of Doom. 56 We have created you, why do you not then assent? 57 Do ye then see?- The (human Seed) that ye throw out,- 58 Is it ye who create it, or are We the Creators? 59 It is We who have ordained death for all of you; and We cannot be prevented 60 from replacing you by others like yourselves or changing your forms and re-creating you in forms that you know nothing of. 61 You certainly knew about (your) first development. Why do you not take heed? 62 Have you thought about what crops you plant? 63 Is it you who cause them to grow or do We? 64 If We so wished, We could have reduced your harvest to rubble, and you would have been left wonder-struck to exclaim: 65 "Verily, we are ruined! 66 "Nay, but we are deprived!" 67 Did you cast a good look at the water that you drink? 68 Is it you who sent it down from the clouds or is it We who have sent it down? 69 If We willed, surely We would make it brackish. Wherefore give ye not thanks? 70 Have ye observed the fire which ye strike out; 71 Have you raised its tree, or We have raised it? 72 We have made it to be a reminder and a benefit for the wayfarers. 73 So exalt the name of your Lord, the Most Great. 74
