▼ 56 The Inevitable
Al-Waaqe'ah 3 of 3
۞ Nay, I swear by the places of the stars - 75 (and that is indeed a mighty oath, did you but know it) 76 that this indeed is a noble Qur'an, 77 preserved in a hidden Book which 78 which none but the pure [of heart] can touch: 79 [It is] a revelation from the Lord of the worlds. 80 Is it this discourse that ye hold lightly? 81 And make it your provision that ye should belie it? 82 So why was it not, when the soul reaches up to the throat, – 83 the while you are [helplessly] looking on 84 – at that moment when We are closer to him than you, although you do not see (Us) 85 If you are true to your claim that there is no Day of Judgment, 86 Bring back the soul (to its body), if you are truthful? 87 Thus, then, if he be of those Nearest to Allah, 88 happiness [awaits him in the life to come,] and inner fulfillment, and a garden of bliss. 89 And if he is of those on the right hand, 90 Then [the angels will say], "Peace for you; [you are] from the companions of the right." 91 But, if he is of those who belied, and went astray, 92 then he will be served boiling water, 93 and will be scorched by the Fire. 94 This is indeed an utmost certainty. 95 So exalt the Name of your Lord, the Great. 96

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
