Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
O thou enwrapped in thy robes, 1 Stand up for worship during the night, except for some part of it. 2 For half the night, or reduce some from it. 3 Or add (a little) thereto - and chant the Qur'an in measure, 4 Behold, We shall cast upon you a Weighty Word. 5 surely the first part of the night is heavier in tread, more upright in speech, 6 You have by day prolonged occupations. 7 So remember the name of your Lord and devote yourself to Him with exclusive devotion. 8 Lord of the East and the West; there is no Allah save Him; so choose thou Him alone for thy defender - 9 And bear patiently what they say and avoid them with a becoming avoidance. 10 Leave the prosperous disbelievers to Me and give them respite for a little while; 11 We have fetters (for them) and a blazing fire, 12 And food that chokes and a painful punishment, 13 On that day, the earth and the mountains will be violently shaken, and the mountains will be turned into heaps of moving sand. 14 We have indeed sent a Noble Messenger towards you, a present witness over you – the way We had sent a Noble Messenger towards Firaun. 15 But Pharoah rebelled against the messenger, so We seized him with a strong, crushing grip. 16 If therefore you disbelieve, how will you guard yourselves against a day that shall make the children grey-headed? 17 The very heaven being then rent asunder. His promise is to be fulfilled. 18 This is indeed a Reminder. Let whosoever will take the Path to his Lord. 19
