The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
O you enveloped in your cloak! 1 Rise up and warn! 2 And your Lord glorify 3 and purify your robes, 4 Pollution shun! 5 And do not through giving seek thyself to gain, 6 and persevere for your Lord's sake. 7 When the Horn is blown, 8 That shall be - that Day - a day hard. 9 and for the disbelievers, in particular, it will not be at all easy. 10 Leave Me alone [to deal] with him whom I have created alone, 11 and appointed for him ample wealth 12 and children living in his presence, 13 And made several preparations for him. 14 Then he desires that I should add more. 15 By no means! Verily he hath been unto Our signs a foe. 16 and I shall constrain him to a hard ascent. 17 For lo! he did consider; then he planned - 18 Ruin seize him, how did he hatch a scheme? 19 Then may he be destroyed [for] how he deliberated. 20 Then he looked around, 21 Then he frowned and scowled, 22 Then turned he away in pride 23 And said, "This is not but magic imitated [from others]. 24 This is naught but the word of a mortal. 25 Soon will I cast him into Hell-Fire! 26 And what have you understood, what hell is! 27 It spares not (any sinner), nor does it leave (anything unburnt)! 28 Blackening the skins. 29 Over it are nineteen (angels as guardians and keepers of Hell). 30 We have appointed none but angels to guard the Fire, and made their number only as a trial for the unbelievers, so that those to whom the Book was given are certain and those who believe increase in belief. And that those who were given the Book, and those who believe will not be in doubt. And that those in whose hearts there is a sickness, together with the unbelievers, may say: 'What did Allah intend by this as an example' As such, Allah leaves in error whom He will and He guides whomsoever He will. None knows the hosts of your Lord except He. This is no more than a Reminder to humans. 31
