The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
(All) praise is due to Allah, Who revealed the Book to His servant and did not make in it any crookedness. 1 right, to warn of great violence from Him, and to give good tidings unto the believers, who do righteous deeds, that theirs shall be a goodly wage 2 wherein they shall abide for ever; 3 and also to warn those who say: "Allah has taken to Himself a son," 4 No knowledge thereof have they, nor had their fathers. Odious is the word that cometh out of their mouths; they say not but a lie. 5 Perhaps, you, would kill yourself (O Muhammad SAW) in grief, over their footsteps (for their turning away from you), because they believe not in this narration (the Quran). 6 Behold, We have willed that all beauty on earth be a means by which We put men to a test, [showing] which of them are best in conduct; 7 and, verily, [in time] We shall reduce all that is on it to barren dust! 8 Deemest thou that the people of the cave and the inscription were of Our signs a wonder? 9 When the youths sought refuge in the Cave, they said: 'Lord give us from Your Mercy and furnish us with rectitude in our affair' 10 Then We smote their ears many years in the Cave. 11 Then We woke them up again so that We might see which of the two groups would better calculate the time they had stayed there. 12
