The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ Whereof do they question one another? 1 Is it about the awesome tiding 2 About which they differ? 3 Nay, but they will come to know! 4 Again surely yes, they will soon come to know! 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 and fixed the mountains like pegs, 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 and We appointed your sleep for a rest; 9 and We appointed night for a garment, 10 And We have made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We have builded over you seven strong heavens. 12 And have appointed a dazzling lamp, 13 and have sent down out of the rainclouds water cascading 14 That We may produce from it grain and vegetation, 15 and gardens luxuriant. 16 Indeed, the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 It is a Day whereon the trumpet will be blown, and ye will come in multitudes. 18 And the heaven will have been opened, and it will have become doors. 19 And the mountains shall be moved away from their places and they will be as if they were a mirage. 20 Surely hell lies in wait, 21 The rebels' abode, 22 for the rebellious ones and they will live therein for ages. 23 tasting neither coolness nor any drink 24 Except boiling water and benumbing cold: 25 An exact recompense (according to their evil crimes). 26 Verily they were wont not to look for a reckoning. 27 and they cried loud lies to Our signs; 28 And everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 "So taste ye (the fruits of your deeds); for no increase shall We grant you, except in Punishment." 30

كيف تعمل منظومة تمارين الحفظ؟ عند أدنى مستوى 0، تكون كل الكلمات ظاهرة. بينما يُخفي أعلى مستوى 9 كل الكلمات. فكيف تعمل المستويات المتوسطة، مثل 3، على سبيل المثال؟ قد تعتقد بأن المنظومة تخفي 3 من كل تسع كلمات بدقة. ليس تماما! في المستوى 3، لكل كلمة فرصة اختفاء بنسبة 3 من 9، و6 من 9 لتكون ظاهرة. بمعنى آخر، من الممكن، ولكن باحتمال شبة معدوم، أن تكون جميع كلمات المستوى 3 مخفية، أو أن تكون جميعها ظاهرة! وكذلك أيضًا، ففي المستويات المتوسطة، وبما يتناسب مع مستوى الصعوبة، يمكن أن تكون المخابئ غير كاملة أو شفافة جزئيًا بحيث تظهر الكلمات جزئيًا تحتها.
How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
