The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 About the great event, 2 About which they are in disagreement. 3 Surely yes, they will soon come to know! 4 Nay, again, but they will come to know! 5 Did We not make the earth a spreading, 6 and the mountains as pegs (to anchor the earth)? 7 And it is We who created you in pairs. 8 and We appointed your sleep for a rest; 9 And have made the night as a covering (through its darkness), 10 And We made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 And We made a shining lamp, 13 and have sent down out of the rainclouds water cascading 14 so that We might bring forth thereby grain, and herbs, 15 And gardens of thick foliage. 16 Surely a time is fixed for the Day of Judgement. 17 the day the Trumpet is blown, and you shall come in troops, 18 And the heaven will have been opened, and it will have become doors. 19 And the mountains are removed and will be [but] a mirage. 20 Truly, Hell is a place of ambush, 21 The rebels' abode, 22 They will abide therein for ages, 23 tasting neither coolness nor any drink 24 only burning despair and ice-cold darkness: 25 Requital corresponding. 26 They were those who did not expect a reckoning, 27 and roundly denied Our Signs as false. 28 But all things We have enumerated in writing. 29 [So We shall say], "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
