The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ OF WHAT ARE they asking one another? 1 Is it about the awesome tiding 2 on which they [so utterly] disagree. 3 Nay, they will come to know! 4 Surely, they will soon find out the truth! 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse, 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 made sleep for you to rest, 9 And made the night as clothing 10 And We made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 (the sun) as a shining torch 13 And We send down from the clouds water pouring forth abundantly, 14 that We may bring forth thereby grain and plants, 15 And gardens of thick growth. 16 Indeed the Day of Decision is a time fixed. 17 The Day that the Trumpet shall be sounded, and ye shall come forth in crowds; 18 and when the skies are opened and become [as wide-flung] gates; 19 The mountains put in motion turning into a mirage. 20 Surely hell lies in wait, 21 For the transgressors, a place of return, 22 They will dwell therein for ages. 23 and where they will taste neither coolness nor any drink 24 except boiling water and pus 25 Requital corresponding. 26 For that they used not to fear any account (for their deeds), 27 and they cried loud lies to Our signs; 28 And everything We have recorded in a book. 29 So taste you (the results of your evil actions); no increase shall We give you, except in torment. 30
