The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
By the night when it envelopeth, 1 And by the day as it appears in brightness; 2 And Him who created the male and female, 3 you strive in various ways. 4 As for him who gives (in charity) and keeps his duty to Allah and fears Him, 5 And believes in the best [reward], 6 We shall ease the way of fortune for him. 7 And for him who hoarded wealth and remained carefree, 8 And gives the lie to the best,- 9 For him We shall ease the way of adversity, 10 His riches will not save him when he perisheth. 11 Surely it is for Us to show the Right Way, 12 And verily unto Us (belong) the End and the Beginning. 13 So I have warned you of a Fire which is blazing. 14 None shall reach it but those most unfortunate ones 15 even he who cried lies, and turned away; 16 The pious ones will be safe from this fire 17 who spend for the cause of God and purify themselves. 18 not as payment for any favours that he received, 19 Other than seeking the glory of his Lord, most high, 20 He surely will be pleased (when he will enter Paradise). 21
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
