The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the forthcoming event does occur. 1 there will be nought that could give the lie to its having come to pass, 2 It will bring low (some); (and others) it will exalt; 3 When the earth is shaken up convulsively, 4 The mountains bruised and crushed, 5 So that they become dust seattered. 6 [on that Day] you shall be divided into three groups. 7 The People on the Right: and how fortunate will be the People on the Right! 8 And those on the Left Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Record in their left hands), Who will be those on the Left Hand? (As a disgrace for them, because they will enter Hell). 9 And those foremost [(in Islamic Faith of Monotheism and in performing righteous deeds) in the life of this world on the very first call for to embrace Islam,] will be foremost (in Paradise). 10 Those are they who will be brought nigh 11 They are in Gardens of peace. 12 Many of them will be from the ancient people 13 but [only] a few of later times. 14 on lavish couches 15 Reclining thereon facing each other. 16 Round about them will (serve) youths of perpetual (freshness), 17 With cups, and jugs, and a glass from the flowing wine, 18 They shall not be affected with headache thereby, nor shall they get exhausted, 19 And with fruit from that which they choose. 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire to eat; 21 And (there are) fair ones with wide, lovely eyes, 22 like hidden pearls, 23 As reward for what they used to do. 24 They will hear no nonsense there or talk of sin, 25 Only the saying, "Peace! Peace". 26 And those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 27 They will live amid the thornless lot trees 28 And acacia covered with heaps of bloom, 29 and shade extended, 30 and flowing water 31 and fruit abounding, 32 never-ending and unrestricted, 33 And raised couches; 34 Surely We have made them to grow into a (new) growth, 35 And made them virginal, 36 Loving companions matched in age, 37 for those on the Right, 38
