Said the Chiefs of the people of Pharaoh: "This is indeed a sorcerer well-versed. 109 and said, "He wants to expel you from your land." They asked (others), " what is your opinion in the matter? 110 They said, "Postpone [the matter of] him and his brother and send among the cities gatherers 111 That they may bring to thee every magician knowing. 112 So there came the sorcerers to Pharaoh: They said, "of course we shall have a (suitable) reward if we win!" 113 He said, "Yes, and, [moreover], you will be among those made near [to me]." 114 They said: "O Moses! wilt thou throw (first), or shall we have the (first) throw?" 115 He said, 'You cast.' And when they cast they put a Spell upon the people's eyes, and called forth fear of them, and produced a mighty sorcery. 116 We inspired Moses to throw his staff, and suddenly it began to swallow-up all that the magicians had (falsely) invented. 117 ۞ So the truth was established, and abolished was what they were doing. 118 Thus they were vanquished there, and they went back abased. 119 And the sorcerers prostrated themselves 120 saying: 'We believe in the Lord of the Worlds, 121 “The Lord of Moosa and Haroon.” 122 But Pharaoh said: "You have come to accept belief in Him without my permission! This surely is a plot you have hatched to expel the people from the land. You will soon come to know. 123 most certainly shall I cut off your hands and your feet in great numbers, because of [your] perverseness, and then I shall most certainly crucify you, in great numbers, all together!" 124 They answered: "Verily, unto our Sustainer do we turn 125 Thou takest vengeance upon us only because we have believed in the signs of our Lord when they came to us. Our Lord, pour out upon us patience, and gather us unto Thee surrendering.' 126
