The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By the heaven, and At-Tariq (the night-comer, i.e. the bright star); 1 And what shall teach thee what is the night-star? 2 The very brightly shining star! 3 There is no human being but has a protector over him (or her) (i.e. angels incharge of each human being guarding him, writing his good and bad deeds, etc.) 4 Now let man but think from what he is created! 5 Created from a gushing fluid. 6 that issues from between the loins and the ribs. 7 God has all power to resurrect him. 8 The Day that (all) things secret will be tested, 9 and [man] will have neither strength nor helper! 10 By the sky which returns [rain] 11 and by the earth bursting with vegetation; 12 Most surely it is a decisive word, 13 And is not a matter of amusement. 14 Indeed, they are planning a plan, 15 and I too am devising a guile. 16 Therefore grant a delay to the Unbelievers: Give respite to them gently (for awhile). 17
