Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Has the story reached thee of the overwhelming (Event)? 1 [Some] faces, that Day, will be humbled, 2 labouring, weary, 3 Burning in the scorching fire, 4 Given to drink of a spring fiercely boiling. 5 No food for them save the bitterness of dry thorns, 6 Which shall neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 [And] some faces will on that Day shine with bliss, 8 well pleased with the result of their striving, 9 In a lofty garden, 10 They shall hear therein no vain discourse; 11 Wherein is a gushing spring, 12 Therein shall be couches elevated! 13 And goblets ready placed! 14 and cushions arrayed in rows, 15 and carpets outspread. 16 Do (these unbelievers) not observe the camels: how they were created? 17 And how the heaven was raised up, 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted? 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 So remind, [O Muhammad]; you are only a reminder. 21 You are not a warden over them, 22 However, he who turns away and disbelieves - 23 Allah will chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 To Us they will all return. 25 In Our hands are their accounts. 26
Almighty God's Truth.
