The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the great event comes to pass, 1 there is no denying its coming 2 (a calamitous Event) that shall turn things upside down: 3 When the earth is shaken 4 And the mountains are broken down, crumbling 5 Turned to dust, floating in the air, 6 you shall be divided into three parties, 7 Companions of the Right, what are the Companions of the Right? 8 And those on the left hand; how miserable shall those on the left hand be! 9 And the Outstrippers, the Outstrippers 10 They shall be the nearest to God. 11 In the Gardens of delight (Paradise). 12 Many of them will be from the ancient people 13 and only a few of them from the later generations. 14 on lavish couches 15 facing one another. 16 Round about them will (serve) youths of perpetual (freshness), 17 with goblets and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 which will not cause them any intoxication or illness. 19 And with fruit from that which they choose. 20 And the flesh of fowls, any that they may desire. 21 And (there are) fair ones with wide, lovely eyes, 22 Like unto Pearls well-guarded. 23 Reward for what they used to do. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 Only a saying: "Peace, peace." 26 As for the People on the Right, how fortunate shall be the people on the Right! 27 [They, too, will find themselves] amidst fruit laden lote-trees, 28 and acacias flower-clad, 29 and continuous shade, 30 And water gushing, 31 and abundant fruits, 32 never-ending and unrestricted, 33 and upraised couches. 34 Verily, We have created them (maidens) of special creation. 35 And made them virgins. 36 Loving companions matched in age, 37 For those on the right. 38
