The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
When the sun shall be wound round, 1 And when the stars fall, dispersing, 2 And when the hills are moved, 3 when the pregnant camels are neglected, 4 When the wild beasts are herded together (in the human habitations); 5 when the seas are set boiling, 6 And when the souls are paired 7 And the little girl buried alive is asked 8 for what crime she was slain, 9 when the scrolls are unrolled, 10 and when Heaven is laid bare; 11 when Hell shall be set blazing, 12 And when the Garden shall be brought nigh, 13 then, each soul shall know what it has produced. 14 I swear by the receding stars, 15 orbiting, disappearing; 16 And by oath of the night when it turns back. 17 and the morning when it extends, 18 This is indeed the recitation of an honoured Noble Messenger. (Angel Jibreel – peace and blessings be upon him.) 19 Mighty, established in the presence of the Lord of the Throne, 20 obeyed, and honest. 21 And your comrade is not mad. 22 He certainly saw him (Gabriel) high up on the horizon in his original form 23 And Muhammad is not a withholder of [knowledge of] the unseen. 24 Nor is this [message] the word of any satanic force accursed. 25 Whither then go ye? 26 Verily this is no less than a Message to (all) the Worlds: 27 Unto whomsoever of you willeth to walk straight. 28 And ye will not, unless (it be) that Allah willeth, the Lord of Creation. 29
