And a sign for them is the dead earth; We gave it life and We produced from it grain, so they eat from it. 33 And We have made therein gardens of date-palms and grapes, and We have caused springs of water to gush forth therein. 34 That they may enjoy the fruits of this (artistry): It was not their hands that made this: will they not then give thanks? 35 Exaltations to Him who created pairs of all the things the earth produces and of themselves, and that of which they have no knowledge. 36 A token unto them is night. We strip it of the day, and lo! they are in darkness. 37 And the sun runneth on unto a resting-place for him. That is the measuring of the Mighty, the Wise. 38 And the moon, We have determined it in phases till it returns like an old palmbranch. 39 [and] neither may the sun overtake the moon, nor can the night usurp the time of day, since all of them float through space [in accordance with Our laws]. 40 And a sign for them is that We carried their offspring in the laden Ark (of Noah). 41 And We created for them from the likes of it that which they ride. 42 and if We will, We drown them, then none have they to cry to, neither are they delivered, 43 Except as a mercy from Us and provision for a time. 44 And [yet,] when they are told, "Beware of [God's insight into] all that lies open before you and all that is hidden from you, so that you might be graced with His mercy," [most men choose to remain deaf;] 45 Not a Sign comes to them from among the Signs of their Lord, but they turn away therefrom. 46 When they are told: "Spend of what God has given you," the unbelievers say to those who believe: "Why should we feed those whom God should have fed if He pleased?" You are only in palpable error. 47 Further, they say, "When will this promise (come to pass), if what ye say is true?" 48 They await just one scream, which will overcome them while they are involved in worldly disputes. 49 and they will not even be able to make a testament, nor to return to their households. 50
